Private visa

Ordinary private visa is issued to the citizens of Cyprus and other nationals for an entry to the Russian Federation for guest visit based on:

  1. Invitation of the General Administration for Migration Issues of the Russian MIA that was issued on a request of a Russian citizen, a foreigner having a Russian residence permit or a legal entity;
  2. Written application of a Russian citizen to the Russian Ambassador or the Consul General for a joint entry into the Russian Federation with family members who are foreign citizens.
  3. Written request of a foreign citizen to the Russian Ambassador or the Consul General in a connection with a necessity of entry into the Russian Federation for urgent treatment, due to a serious illness or death of a close relative .

    4. The following documents are to be attached to a request:

    • a written confirmation from a Russian medical institution issued on an official letterhead (stamped) indicating the necessity of emergency medical care, emergent hospitalization, emergent examination or a serious illness of a person who is being visited requiring constant care; 
    • death certificate of a citizen – applicant’s close relative. Close relatives are taken to be spouses, children, parents, including parents-in-law, if a spouse is an accompanying person; 
    • international telegraph message indicating death of a citizen certified by an official from an institution of communication;
    • a document confirming immediate relationship of an applicant and a person to be visited or immediate relationship of an applicant and the deceased. 


    Private visa is issued for a period up to 90 days and may be single- or double-entry.

In order to apply for a common single- or double-entry private visa the following must be submitted:

  1. The invitation for an entry into the Russian Federation:
    1. The invitation for an entry into the Russian Federation issued by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs;
      OR

    2. A written application of a Russian citizen to the Head of the Consulate for a joint entry into the Russian Federation with family members who are foreign citizen;

      The application is made by the inviting Russian citizen and must be accompanied by:

      • a copy and the original (will be returned) of a valid Russian foreign passport of the inviting person;
      • a copy and the original (will be returned) of a document proving close relationship between the applicant and his relative in Russia (marriage certificate, birth certificate, a document confirming the disability of an adult child etc). All Non-Russian documents must be apostilled;
      • tickets confirming the joint travel of a Russian citizen and his close relative upon entry and exit from the Russian Federation;
      • pink slip / yellow slip or another document confirming the right of a foreign and Russian citizen to reside in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus (except for citizens of the Republic of Cyprus) (+ copy).
  2. Passport with no less than 2 empty pages for visas, valid for 6 months from the visa expiry date;
  3. Visa application form filled in on the website visa.kdmid.ru, printed and signed personally by the applicant;
  4. Colour photography 3.5 x 4.5 cm with a light background with a clear frontal view of the full face without tinted glasses or a head-wear (except for the persons who in accordance with their nationality or religious beliefs are depicted with a head-wear on their passport photography). At the Russian visa center you may ask for the additional service Express Photo.
  5. Medical insurance policy valid on the territory of the Russian Federation and during the validity period of the visa, except for the mutual insurance cases. Medical insurance is accepted only in English or Russian languages.

In case you have two or more valid passports, please make sure there are no valid Russian visas in any of the passports before submitting your visa application. 

Please note!

All applicants except for citizens of the Republic of Cyprus must submit their residence permits with a period of legal stay in the Republic of Cyprus exceeding 3 (three) months.

    Russian Consular Offices may request additional visa documents, invite you for an interview or extend the time of visa issuing procedure.

    Rates and terms

    All fees can be paid in CASH or BANK CARD (bank payment ~ 0.5-2.2% is additionally charged when paying with a bank card).

    Personal checks and money orders - NOT ACCEPTED.

    Please note: 

    *Visa processing fees and time schedules for the citizens of other countries and persons without citizenship are calculated according to “Consular fees of the consular institutions of the Russian Federation”. Processing time starts from the day the documents are delivered to the Consulate. In certain cases the Consulate can extend or reduce the processing time. 

    ** Additional service charges are not included in the service fee and are to be paid separately.

    ***Logistic fee

    - Applicants who submit documents in Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos  pay a logistics fee of 50 euros for each passport. 

    - Applicants applying in Nicosia are exempt from this fee.


    Completing the Russian visa application form

    The application form for a Russian visa should be filled out in electronic form on the website of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry: https://visa.kdmid.ru.

    At your request, we can fill out the application form for you at the visa center. This is a paid additional service worth 5 EUR for each page of the application form.

    A separate application form must be completed for each applicant.
